Developing an Internet Marketing Strategy

How do I effectively develop an Internet marketing articles strategy?  Each online business owner asks this question at some specific point in time.  Unfortunately there’s no universal answer to developing your Internet marketing method. 

There are many different methods being used and other ones being tried every day.  However, there are basics that has to be in place to develop a successful Internet marketing methodology. 

– Internet marketing method:
Know your market. 

Don’t guess, those that guess fail.  Take a look at your reality; don’t think everyone wishes what you’re selling.  Take the time and effort to develop a particularly specific outline of your preferred client. 

Research, raise questions, talk to folks, get a firm knowledge of who it is you are selling to and don’t depend on if you build it they are going to come.  When you have a grasp of your target audience you are going to be able to make accurate decisions about your business, not guesses based on estimates.  Developing an Internet marketing strategy is like building the basis of your business.  When you research your audience, you’ll want to find out the answers to questions such as the ones mentioned below. 

What products / services do you now buy?  Why do you purchase your present brand?  What do you like about it?  What might be improved?  If you could recreate the product / service, how would you change it?  What Web sites do you frequent?  What ezines or newsletters do you receive thru email?  Sex?  Age?  Annual income?  Occupation?  Title?  Are you a business owner? 

Dependent on what your business sells or offers, there should be more questions you can develop to further hone your target market and so your Internet marketing articles strategy. 

How does one get this information?  Talk to people in the flesh or in groups.  Conduct a web survey.  Surveymonkey.com offers wonderful survey tools free.  Make use of web forums.  Put a forum on your Internet site.  Use a promotional give-away to get information.  Be creative and be real.

Make sure the strategies you choose hit your target market.  Don’t market your ego ; advertise your product.
